The Our House
Opening Prayer
Glory to God, whose power, working in us, can do infinitely more than we can ask or imagine. Glory to God
from generation to generation, in the church and in Christ Jesus, for ever and ever. Amen.

Recovery Values
-
We admitted we
were powerless over any kind of drugs and our life had become a mess.
-
Through being
open and honest with fellow addicts we came to know a power we could depend on
called God.
-
With the help
of God and our friends we took an honest look at ourselves and became willing
to change the things that were keeping us high.
-
Since we had
harmed many people we attempted to make things right with them.
-
We continued to
take a look at ourselves on a daily basis and when anything bothered us we
talked about it.
-
With God and
our friends we tried to give other addicts what we had received and to follow
these values in our daily living.

Reality
I have arrived here because I can no longer escape from myself! I have finally
come to understand, I am the problem, not others! My secrets keep my sick and
hopeless! Through being open and honest with other addicts, I can
stop being
the "Angel of my dreams" and the "Devil of my fears." I can become "real" and
"free". This is my reality.

Unity Values
-
God is the ultimate
conscience in any decision making.
-
The only requirement
for residence is a desire to stop using and begin changing.
-
Each Our House
is to be independently operated except in matters affecting Our House
as a whole.
-
In Our House
the emphasis should be placed on the individual's addiction
recovery rather than personal prestige.
-
Our House is
a family-oriented way of life, therefore, it must always remain co-ed.
-
To avoid public
controversy, only members who are authorized by the director of each Our
House may use the Our House name.
